Even in this season of uncertainty, there is much gospel work to do and God is continuing to move in and among us. We want to continue to make disciples who make a difference, to grow in breath, and grow in depth, trusting it all to God.  We’re releasing a video every Friday to update you on a key churchwide initiative. Pray with us for these endeavors!

Big Rock 1

Making Disciples Who Make A Difference

We are keeping on with the work of the Church to fulfill the Great Commission. Jesus has commissioned his church to be about his work. He’s told us what he wants us to do! We will not press pause on the everyday work of ministry. Instead, we will follow him with energy and joy to his glory. Week by week we will continue to pour heart and effort into everyday disciple-making through grace-filled worship, community, and missions.

Here are the latest updates for Big Rock #1:

Regathering

Our services have returned to full capacity, with no RSVPs. We’re excited to regather more fully as a church family!

Please keep praying for wisdom and unity for our church in this season, and stay tuned for more updates.

Racial Reconciliation

We’re committed to racial reconciliation and justice not just in this moment, but for the long-haul.

To that end, our session of elders has appointed a one-year committee to consider our denomination’s guidance in the 2018 Racial and Ethnic Reconciliation Report and how our church can respond to pursue reconciliation and justice.

Staffing Updates

As transitions have created leadership openings in both Care and Missions, we are making a number of changes in our pastoral team and pastoral responsibilities.

These changes are for the thriving of our ministries, the perseverance of our mission, and the sustainability of our efforts. We are really excited about these mission-forward staffing updates!

Growing in Breadth through Multisite

To reach the maximum number of people in our strategic setting of D.C., we launched our first multisite location in Fairfax in 2019, which is celebrating its second anniversary and continuing to thrive. This year we will pursue the next steps in our multiplication efforts, aiming to start a new site in Reston in 2022.

By replicating our core values in different locations, we hope to see the gospel change more lives to the glory of God.

Growing in Depth through a McLean Building Expansion

The Great Commission calls us to make disciples, not just gather a large crowd. We have grown to the point that our McLean facility is now the cap on our discipleship ministries. While the pandemic has put these plans on pause, our Making a Difference committee continues to meet to assess the situation and recommend next steps. The committee includes elected leaders, several staff, and members with industry experience. We’re continuing to pray and seek God’s will for us in this area.

Stay tuned for more updates!
