Join us for a restful and fun weekend away! We’ll grow together as Community Group leaders, and be equipped to lead. Our speaker this year is Dr. Bill Clark, who will lead us through the invaluable Glorious Mess training (read about it below!) with a specific focus on your role as CG leaders. We want to equip you meaningfully as you persevere in leading real people through truly distinct seasons, and this is probably the most powerful thing we’ll offer all year—and it’s free, both as a thank you for your labor, and to show you how important we think it is.

About Our Speaker

Dr. Bill Clark is a licensed clinical psychologist, a licensed professional counselor, and a certified clinical supervisor in Virginia. He has been in private practice for over 30 years in the DC area, seeing individuals and couples for therapy. He earned his PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Maryland, a Master of Arts in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary, and a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling from Grace Theological Seminary (studying under Dr. Larry Crabb and Dr. Dan Allender). In the late 1980’s he co-founded The Lay Counselor Institute, a non-profit organization devoted to training individuals to provide lay counseling in the local church. Bill is also an adjunct professor at both Cairn University and Reformed Theological Seminary.

He’s married to Debbie and has two adult sons, Adam and Alex. Bill and Debbie are members of McLean Presbyterian Church.

About Glorious Mess

As people, we can be such a mess and yet through Christ, we can gloriously reflect his light. We are essentially. . . a Glorious Mess. During this training, we’ll look at human nature, the nature of God, and how our understanding of ourselves and God can help us better care for one another. We’ll discuss and practice questions like: How do we reconcile the contradiction between our own dignity & depravity? How do we interact, mentor, and advise others in the same boat? What/who is the source of hope? What biblical truths can we claim? How are we really a Glorious Mess?

This training is especially helpful for anyone in relational roles (ministry, marriage, parenting, mentoring, leading a small group)—where life can be especially challenging.
